New Beaded Flowers

Beaded Flowers
As usual I am on to something new. This is a photo of what I think will be the center of a necklace. I plan to do a combination beaded and micro-macramé neck for this one with a total length of around 18 inches.
Each petal, rose and each leaf was individually beaded then fastened to a piece of felt. I have since attached the C-Lon cord to the ultra suede and fastened that to the felt to begin the macramé portion.
It will be free form and I am thinking asymmetrical so balancing will be a bit tricky, as I do not want it sliding around once it is on the neck.
Although I enjoy doing these quite a bit, I can’t seem many being made as they are very time consuming.
Let me know your thoughts!

Cotton Visors

Want to keep the sun out of your eyes but find it too hot to wear a hat? Do you want a little something to keep your beak from burning while you lounge by the pool? I have designed just the thing!
Made of 100% cotton this is cool, comfy and it is adjustable with a 2 button (fun and color coordinated) closure in the back. Best of all you can toss it right in the wash. You can pitch it in your bag or wear it around your neck so you have it with you when you need it. Perfect for all those fun, summer activities like camping, hiking, fishing, gardening or just doing nothing at all.
These can be made in a variety of colors and with or without the little knit leaf and flower.
This one is available on my website and I will be coming out with a broader design for those of you who want more coverage so keep checking my website at www.divelladelights.com

Handmade Dog Collars

These dog collars are really something! Handmade in Lawrenceville, Georgia USA by The Mod Dog, these would be a great gift for your favorite canine companion or for someone who adores their dog or puppy.
The Mod Dog specializes in custom designed accessories for your pet. They allow you to pick and choose all aspects of the design for the dog (or cat) collar/leash, so that it is completely customized to your liking. That means you can choose the style of the collar, the pattern, the main collar material, and hardware. The Mod Dog is happy to take special orders and customize a collar just for you and your four legged friend.
The Mod Dog began because the Kyra loved buying unique dog collars and was a little disappointed at the selection and quality available. She has made all collars fully adjustable and triple stitched at stress points to prevent breaking and prolong durability.
They are very reasonable priced at $10 to $19 and there are so many patterns available you are sure to find just the collar to suit your dog or puppy's personality. They also have cat collars for those who prefer feline companionship.
She is currently asking for a 7-10 day production window so get on over to http://www.themoddog.etsy.com/ and place your order now and give your faithful friend a fashionable new dog collar.
When you have finished shopping for your pet, stop by www.divelladelights.com and pick up a little bling or something to keep you warm on those long walks for yourself!

ART IN MAINE

I live and work in Maine and I love it here. In an effort to help out fellow Artisans and Crafters from Maine I am going to be featuring all kinds of local work; knit, crochet, paintings, pottery, lighting, clothing, just to name a few. Check back often or better yet just subscribe to the blog. There is a lot of wonderful talent here in Maine and my goal is to show you as much as I can in the upcoming months. Buy handmade!!! Many Artisans accept custom orders and they are very reasonable. Wouldn't you rather give a beautiful, quality handmade item than something mass produced? I will even feature patterns if you have the time and energy to make gifts yourself. I am going back to a desk job full time in an attempt to keep my bills paid so I may not be writing every day although I will certainly try. I was hoping to take a full year off but with the economy today I am not selling quite enough jewelry to live on. I am sure that is true of some of my fellow artisans so I hope this will help us all!

Tournalinated Quartz Earrings

This pair of earrings is exquisite and just the thing for that little black dress. Made of faceted Toumalinated Quartz and Sterling, these are simple and elegant. Each earrings is hand wrapped with 8 inches sterling silver and placed on handmade sterling ear wires. As with all my jewelry this will come in a gift box suitable for gift giving.
Tourmalinated Quartz a is Milky white quartz with striking black needle-like inclusions of black tourmaline. Classic combination of colors, direct from nature.
I am going back into the work force after having 9 months off and no, I did not have a baby, but I did get married in that time! I was working 40 hours a week then spending long nights in my studio developing my passion. It got to be a little much so I decided to take a chance and see if I could actually survive on making jewelry if I had the proper time to devote to all the business aspects such as marketing. Although I am doing OK with a few wholesale accounts, I find it necessary in this economy to return to the desk at least part time. The marketing is the hard part. I have to confess that I am not very good at "talking myself up". So back to the grind. If any of you have ideas, suggestions or helpful hints on how to sell my wares, I would appreciate the feedback!
