A Hand for Hannah

A friend of mine has a 13 year old daughter with Crohn’s, a painful and at times debilitating inflammatory bowel disease.

There are a couple of ways you can help. You can  make a purchase at Divella Delights between now and Saturday May 21st and I will donate 20% of all sales to CCFA for Hannah. If you would like to donate directly you can go to Hannah’s Page and click on make a gift on the right hand side.

“Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis is CCFA's largest fundraising event. Participants raise funds and awareness throughout the year and come together to celebrate the steps that have been taken towards a cure.”

Here is what Hannah has to say:

“Hi

My name is Hannah and I have Crohns Disease. I am 13 years old and am in 7th grade. I was diagnosed in March of 2007. Since then I have had too many tests to keep track of. I suffer with severe stomach aches and constant runs to the bathroom. I never know when or where it might hit. At this time there is no cure for Crohns. I am walking on May 21st to earn money from either your sponsorship or donations to help find a cure for my disease.

Your donation will help support local patient programs, as well as important research projects. This cause is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight for a cure! In addition to donating, you can join me at the event. There will be food, music and kid's activities. The more money we raise, the closer we will be to making life more manageable for patients who live with these diseases every day.

No donation is too small or too big. I hope to see you on May 21st to walk with my team to make noise for a cure!

Thank you

Hannah

Please join me or donate to my efforts to support CCFA in finding a cure!”

Kids do Charity Walk

OK so I am a softy.
My 6 year-old granddaughters are doing their first bit of charity work and naturally I sponsored them. I would like to help out more and make this a really positive affair for them so that they are eager to participate in charity work in the future. For every item that I sell from now until June 20th Divella Delights will donate 5% to Walk for Kids. You can see more info here. http://www.firstgiving.com/jessicacersosimo please by all means if you would like to sponsor them, feel free!
Let’s help make this first charity venture rewarding and satisfying for the girls and their cause.
We all thank you for your support!
Also, to sweeten the pot I am having a BOGO this weekend!! Buy any item in my shop and get one at the same or lesser value free!! Just e-mail me at info@divelldelights.com and let me know the item # of your free gift when you complete your sale.

Show Your Support

Show your support for our men and women of the Armed Forces regardless of your political affiliation. Though some may not agree with the conflicts we are or will be engaged in we all support the men and women who give their service to this country. The mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles and all the other loved ones and friends in the US Armed Forces appreciate our support more than you know.
The lampwork beads are handmade, artisan created by http://generationslampwork.etsy.com/ and they can be done in any color as can the beaded part. currently I have black, white and green with the yellow ribbons.
20% of all sales for these yellow ribbon bracelets will be donated to Operation Homefront. More information on this charity can be found at http://www.charitynavigator.org/
While our troops will not be overlooked, these crocheted bracelets were meant to be forgotten! Roll them on and forget about them. Great for summer fun, these bracelets are made with heavy-duty nylon cord and seed beads hand picked and purchased locally to ensure high quality. If you get them wet just rinse with clear water and let air dry. If your bracelet is a little too big or a tad too small just wet and wear it. I have slept, showered and played in mine for 2 years now and it still looks like new. My grandmother said it was the only piece of jewelry she could sleep in.

Want to keep the sun out of your eyes but find it too hot to wear a hat? Do you want a little something to keep your beak and that sensitive area on the tops of your ears from burning while you lounge by the pool? I have designed just the thing!
Made of 100% cotton this is cool, comfy and it is adjustable with a 2 button (fun and color coordinated) closure in the back. Best of all you can toss it right in the wash. You can pitch it in your bag or wear it around your neck so you have it with you when you need it. Perfect for all those fun, summer activities like camping, hiking, fishing, gardening or just doing nothing at all.
OK folks, sales have hit bottom and I can’t make much in the way of donations these days. In order to try to increase those I have designed a summer 100% Cotton Visor in 2 styles seen above to which I will add your choice of "ribbon". A list of ribbon colors and their corresponding awareness campaign can be found below and was taken from http://www.fundraisers.com/causes/ribbons I have posted the white visor with the pink ribbon for Breast Cancer Awareness. I will also be making different ones periodically. If there is a certain color visor you want, please contact me at info@divelladelights.com and I will do my best to accommodate you.
All Visor sales regardless of if they have a ribbon on them will be subject to the donation.
The donation will be 10% of the sale to the charity and will be made quarterly.
Yellow Awareness Ribbons continue to be associated with American Armed Forces and gain poignancy as lives continue to be lost in the Middle East. The same color is associated with Suicide Prevention. Yellow Ribbons also symbolize Hope, a common link among all humanitarian causes; an arrow accompanying a Yellow Ribbon means "Hope Ahead."

A Gold Awareness Ribbon symbolizes childhood cancer, and orange is the color for Leukemia.

Pink Ribbons are universally connected to Breast Cancer issues. Efforts by legions of volunteers affected by breast cancer have increased research funding and promoted routine self-examinations and mammograms for early detection. Pink also signifies Birth Parents for adoption related organizations.

Black Ribbons still represent Mourning and have also been adopted to increase awareness for Melanoma and Gang Violence.

Blue Ribbons promote awareness about Colon Cancer and Child Abuse Prevention. Pinstriped Blue Ribbons have been adopted by organizations involved with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Colon Cancer and Scleroderma are signified by Light Blue Ribbons.

Purple and Silver are the most prevalent Awareness Ribbon colors. These colors represent so many causes; you may need to ask the ribbon wearer which one they're signifying. Go ahead…ask. They'll enjoy educating you about something close to their heart.

Purple Ribbons have been employed by organizations supporting Pancreatic Cancer, Alzheimer's, Lupus, and Youth Courage. Purple also denotes issues related to Domestic Violence.

Silver Ribbons demonstrate support for Multiple Sclerosis, Children with Diabetes, Brain Disorders, Amalgam and Anti-Stigma.Green Ribbons spread awareness about Environmental Concerns, Organ Donation, Missing Children, and Safe Driving.

White Lace Ribbons stand for Osteoporosis; solid White Ribbons represent Victims of Terrorism. Teal Ribbons are linked to Ovarian Cancer.

Red Awareness Ribbons will forever stand for AIDS related causes and MADD continues to spread their message with red ribbons on automobile antennas; Substance Abuse has also become associated with ribbons of red.

Charities for 2009

Thank you to everyone who purchased from my website in December for the donation to Toys for Tots, we raised $68.00. We also donated over $200.00 in hats to the local hat drive for children and young mothers, thanks so much! Without the sales I could not have purchased the yarn for that project.
Divella Delights has a wide variety of prices in fiber goods and jewelry, a small sample you can see her. Pictured is a plain crocheted bracelet, Turquoise and Carnelian necklace and earrings, woman's hat and scarf set, and a men's hat. I am happy to be challenged with special orders.

I have decided I would select a charity every month of 2009 and donate 10% of all sales from my website to a specific charity.
Each of the websites I have chosen are due to an event or circumstance in my life. My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 52, she is gone now so I want to begin the year with that. With Mother’s Day in May and her birthday in September I have devoted those months to the Alzheimer’s Association as well. She was a gracious lady to the end despite the ravages of that insidious disease. I lost my stepdad to heart disease when he was 47 years old. He was a wonderful man who raised me as his own little princess. My mother and stepmother both fought and survived breast cancer, my father and uncle had lung cancer. My grandmother had Emphysema and has recently died. I have 4 healthy grandchildren and I am so grateful. My daughter has just enlisted in the US Navy. Dogs Deserve Better is wonderful organization that I have volunteered for in the past. I have 2 rescue dogs and a cat. My grandmother who recently passed away had her favorite charity so to honor her I have chosen Christian Children’s Fund.
I want to thank everyone in advance for not only supporting my endeavors and all my crazy design ideas, but the charities we will be able to help together. At the end of every month when I submit the donations I will be listing the amounts in my blog. I will also be happy to e-mail a copy of the receipt to anyone who requests it. I am very excited about it and am anxious to see how much money we can raise.
I wish you all a very healthy and happy year ahead full of love and wonder.

TOYS FOR THE LITTLE ONES IN NEED

From now until 12/20/08 Divella Delights will donate 10% of every sale
to Toys for Tots at http://www.toysfortots.org/

That means that for every gift you purchase here you will be getting 2 gifts and one will go to a child who has very little! What a great feeling it will be on Christmas day as we open our gifts to know that somewhere there is a child opening a gift who may not otherwise have one.

I have posted a lot lately about my fiber goods and have not talked about all the wonderful handmade gemstone jewelry I have...I will get to that soon and have new designs in the works!
