Tiger Eye Bead Embroidered Cuff

I am working on a Tiger Eye Bead Embroidered cuff and I decided to use seed beads in amethyst and peridot along with some gold. I like the way it is turning out so far although I was not sure about those colors in the beginning. What are your thoughts?! See more at Divella Delights!!

Another Rose Quartz Bed Embroidered Cuff

I just can't seem to keep the pink ones around very long so I though I would offer up another one, this one being the third. This one is really stunning in person and I just can't wait to get it on the cuff! It has genuine Peridot and Rhodochrosite nuggets along with the center 3 Rose Quartz stones and my standard high quality Miyuki Seeds. Very feminine with lots of sparkle! I think I will call it Rose Tapestry. What do you think?

Family of Beaded Cuffs

I am having so much fun with these Bead Embroidered cuffs! I get to use all sorts of my favorite goodies, gemstone cabochons, pearls, acrylic flowers, silver flowers and beads…the possibilities are limited only by my imagination!

I no longer have the pink one to show you but I will be working on another soon, a special order in fact! I am just waiting for a couple more supplies to come in, hopefully today.

I have the Rose Quartz Cabochons and I picked up more Blue Lace Agate too, I just love the color of those.

I hope this new foundation material I ordered works as well as the white stuff as it comes in 16 colors…we’ll soon see.

Embroidered Bride's Cuff Completed!

Bead Embroidered Bridal Cuff

I wanted to do a Bridal Cuff but was lacking a center stone to use. This is where those beading books come in handy! I made a center flower and some leaves using one of the techniques in “The Beaded Garden” with some variation of my won and made the focal point for the beginning of my Bridal Cuff.

 

 

 

 

The photos are a little challenging because at the moment it is white on white and I am no photographer but you can see how handy those books are when you have to improvise.

I plan to use a variety of shapes and sizes of seed beads in ivory and white as well as some beautiful little white pearls I have leftover from my daughter’s bridal necklace I made last year. I could not resist the chance to show her off so here she is wearing the necklace.

 

  I have some small silver flowers I will probably use too but if you have followed me at all, or if you bead yourself you know how the direction can change! First I will have to drill them as they have no holes in them yet. You can see them in the Blue Lace Agate Cuff.

Beading Patterns

African Jade Cuff

Here it is all finished! If you missed some of the progress and/or desritpion make sure to visit Divella Delights!

This is the beginning of the African Jade Bead Embroidered Bracelet. What I have done so far is just dye the Lacy’s Stiff Stuff and glue the African Jade Cabochon on with E6000.

 

You can use Rit Dye as I have although I do recommend using boiling water and soaking for a full minute. Remember that when you rinse with cold water after soaking, the color will be a little lighter. I would like to have more of a green but I am using what I have on hand.

Lacy’s is the best bead embroidery foundation I have found. You can bead right to the edge without any fray and it gives a stable foundation to bead on. You can also use Ultrasude…I prefer the “soft” to the “light” as it is a little stiffer but my #10 and #12 needles glide right through.

Now I am ready to begin the bead embroidery. I am trying to select beads from the thousands of beads I already have on hand and this is what I think I will use. As I am going along, I might add or subtract from this pile depending on how it looks sewn on.

 

I always use Fireline for my bead weaving and bead embroidery. It hardly ever tangles and when it does it is quite easy to get out any knots. It comes in crystal and smoke so use whichever color is closest to the color of your beads. They won’t show for the most part anyway. I suggest buying it from a fishing supply store rather than a bead shop just because it is less expensive. It is a little more costly than beading thread but as far as I am concerned the extra pennies are well worth it!

Back at last!

Wow, it has been really long time since I have been here. I have been so busy with my website blog, Facebook page and of course, creating beautiful treasures of the beaded variety. I wanted to show you my latest addiction, bead embroidery. I remember when I began beading I swore I would never sew those tiny little beads and here I am...sewing all those tiny little beads.

As you can see, I make no pattern, it is all done freestyle. I put a large cabochon in the center and take it from there.

New Fall Jewelry Designs

I love this time of year and I find it much easier to design jewelry with the colors inspired by the season of Autumn.

Fall brings with it the end of those dog days of Summer and ushers in a gentle reminder that Winter is approaching. It is the time of year for fresh warm apple pie and hot cider, cozy sweaters and warm colors. It is once again time to pull out the crock pot for delicious homemade soups and stews and heat up the oven for fresh biscuits. We can justify putting a few logs in the hearth to chase away the early morning chill.
It also means football is finally back and in our house that is serious business!
The best part as a jewelry and hat designer is the fabulous Fall palette I can delve into for my designs. I could never decide if it was the fibers or the gems that give me the most joy, I enjoy both immensely.
You can see some of my Fall flavors above but there are many more to choose from.
I will leave you now and go give the Split Pea Soup a stir and get those biscuits in the oven.

Pele Goddess of Fire

Although I am selling this pattern on my website I thought I would let you know how I attached the cabochon on this piece as I did not do it as I normally would have. Usually I would attach the cabochon to a piece of suede cloth and bead around it then attach it to the piece. This time I completed the bracelet piece, then used E6000 adhesive to attach the cab to the bracelet, clamped it and left it for several hours. After that I worked a bead embroidery technique to go around the face and then worked circular peyote stitch from the base.
I attached my Fireline securely and picked up 4 beads keeping with the color on the base. I went through he bracelet, through a couple of beads then back up and through the last 2 beads, added 4 more bead and repeated. I continued this around then worked the circular peyote. It is a basic bead embroidery stitch so if you are unfamiliar with it do a search for “bead embroidery tutorials”, there are hundreds out there free!

New Bracelet Designs

I love learning new techniques and when I figured this one out I enjoyed it so much I thought I would do a new series of bracelets for the Fall line up!

The top one in the photo was my first attempt with Swarovski pearls and larger beads. The 2 lower pieces are with smaller beads and gemstones which I like much better.
What do you think?! Should I put clasps on them or make them bangles that you can roll on?
Here are a couple I have made with clasps and I am working on the Bangle now.

Home for Orphans

I have had so many wonderful comments on my free form peyote bracelets, which I have not made in quite a while but rest assured fans, more will be coming soon.




I often buy "Orphan Beads" from Amanda at Rufus and Roxy who makes stunning lampwork beads. She will occasionally have a sale on a group of beads that do not go together so I buy them. This allows me to buy more lampwork (I love that part) and make a piece of original jewelry that always gets rave reviews!



If you have some beads laying around that need a home other than that tray you have them in, why not give them a home they can boast about? If you don't have any orphans of your own check out Amanda and adopt some!

Custom Peyote Patterns

I am now doing custom names in peyote pieces with any name you request on them. These make great bracelets and bookmarks. I did this one for one of my students, although she does not know it yet!


All you have to do is choose a background, your colors and let me know the name and I will make your pattern for you. We can work together to make the perfect piece for you or your loved one.

Here is what the pattern includes:



1. Bead Legend: this tells you what Delica beads you will need complete with the Delica color #, and the amount of each you will need.

2. Bead Pattern: useful for those who know how to read a Peyote Stitch pattern.

3. Complete print out row by row bead by bead for those who find it too tedious or have never even SEEN a Peyote Stitch pattern before!

4. Directions with photos of a beaded toggle clasp and a medallion style clasp. You can always make or buy your own if you want to.

My original pattern designs using even and odd count peyote stitch include clasp instructions for a plain loop and toggle and even instructions to make a pair of matching earrings.
